All Congregations Together (ACT) began in August 1996. Recognizing the powerful role of the faith community in our society, Act along with San Diego Health and Human Services Agency began exploring how the faith community and Health and Human Services could work together to:

  • Develop a better understanding of each other
  • Create increased awareness and understanding of those among us who were in need
  • Identify how Health and Human Services and the Faith Community could help each other meet the needs of the neighborhoods
  • Develop and implement support services for those in need

Through this partnership, others have developed services to assist those in need. We all have one common goal, and that is to develop and implement projects that help encourage community members to reach their fullest potential.

ACT is a 501(c)3 public benefit non-profit organization under the direction of an eleven member Board of Directors, consisting of representatives from the Faith Community, Government and the Business Community; each member brings their unique talent and expertise into service.

For the last year, the Board of Directors has taken on the task of redefining ACT. In this definition, it was taken into account ACT’s humble beginnings of working with transitioning Welfare-To-Work and CalWORKs participants to currently providing a community based shuttle. It was noted that there was a need to define core services and perform those services with quality not quantity. Thus, a strategic plan was developed with two main core services: Transportation and Community Enhancement Services.

The areas of concentration for Transportation are:

  • Senior Transportation
  • Medical Transportation
  • Community Based Shuttle Transportation
  • Employment Related Transportation
  • Disabled Transportation
  • Transportation Related Research

The areas of concentration for Community Enhancement Services are:

  • Employment Related Services
  • Community Service Referrals
  • Intergenerational Services
  • Advocacy

Based on the strategic plan a Vision and Mission Statement was developed to encompass all:

Vision Statement
To provide services that will cause an observable positive change in the health, social and economic conditions of individuals and communities.

Mission Statement
To treat every individual with dignity and respect while delivering transportation and related services, and other services that meet the needs of the community in a manner that promotes social and economic self-sufficiency and healthier individuals an families. This is accomplished through partnerships with Individuals, the Faith and Business Communities, and Governmental Agencies.
